Teaching Clinic

Supervised Acupuncture Care

The Acupuncture Teaching Clinic is part of NYCHP’s academic health care teaching clinics. It provides community access to supervised acupuncture while supporting the clinical education required within the College’s acupuncture program.

Supervised Teaching Clinic

Every treatment is performed by an advanced student intern under the direct supervision of a New York State licensed acupuncturist. Individual experiences vary, and outcomes are not guaranteed.

Treatment Approach

What Acupuncture Involves

Acupuncture is a practice within Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses fine, sterile, single-use needles placed at selected points on the body. Within the teaching clinic, the supervising acupuncturist reviews the student intern’s assessment, treatment principle, and proposed treatment plan.

01

Individual Intake

The visit begins with health-history questions and an individualized assessment.

02

Supervised Planning

The student intern collaborates with the supervising licensed acupuncturist before treatment.

03

Clinical Techniques

The planned visit may involve acupuncture and other techniques taught within the applicable clinical rotation.
